Honda Confirm Their Withdrawal From F1

4th December 2008,Honda has confirmed their withdrawal from all Formula One activities. Honda Motor Company chief Takeo Fukui in Tokyo confirmed Friday afternoon that the Japanese manufacturer is withdrawing ahead of the 2009 season.

The following is the full statement from Honda President and CEO Takeo Fukui regarding the firm’s decision to pull out of Formula One…

We, Honda Motor Co., Ltd., have come to the conclusion that we will withdraw from all Formula One activities, making 2008 the last season of participation.

This difficult decision has been made in light of the quickly deteriorating operating environment facing the global auto industry, brought on by the sub-prime problem in the United States, the deepening credit crisis and the sudden contraction of the world economies.

Honda must protect its core business activities and secure the long term as widespread uncertainties in the economies around the globe continue to mount. A recovery is expected to take some time.

Under these circumstances, Honda has taken swift and flexible measures to counter this sudden and expansive weakening of the marketplace in all business areas. However, in recognition of the need to optimize the allocation of management resources, including investment regarding the future, we have decided to withdraw from Formula One participation. We will enter into consultation with the associates of Honda Racing F1 Team and its engine supplier Honda Racing Development regarding the future of the two companies. This will include offering the team for sale.

In its third era of Formula One activities, Honda has been participating in Formula One races from the 2000 season, initially with BAR, by adopting a new format of jointly developing racing machines.
Subsequently, in a move to meet the changing environment surrounding Formula One, we switched to running a 100 percent Honda-owned team commencing with the 2006 season.

Surmounting many challenges, the Honda Team achieved a Grand Prix victory in 2006, enabling Honda to receive overwhelming support from Honda fans around the world that were looking forward to greater success. It, therefore, has been an extremely difficult decision for us to come to this conclusion without having been able to fully meet the expectations of our fans.

By making the best of what we have learned during these times of economic turmoil, coupled with the spirit of challenge gained through active participation in racing, we intend to continue with our commitment in meeting new challenges.

It is a great loss to the Formula 1 industry..Hope to see Honda compete in the future Formula 1 again..Sayonara to Honda..

Most Powerful Sniper Rifle In The World

M107 .50 Caliber Semi-Automatic Long Range Sniper Rifle (LRSR)
Muzzle Velocity(Speed) : 2,800 fps (853 mps)
Muzzle Energy(Power) : 11,500 foot-pounds (15,582 J)
Maximum Range : 7,450 yd (6,812 m)
Maximum Effective Range : 2,000 yd (1,829 m)

The M107 .50-caliber long-range rifle is semi-automatic and is being fielded to infantry soldiers. It can engage targets to 2,000 meters with precision. At 29 inches long, the frame mounted,bolt-action XM107 weighs 28.5 pounds with optics.

It fires one of the most powerful rounds in the world, the .50 Browning Machine Gun or .50 BMG cartridge. The bullet is .511 inches (12.98 mm) in diameter and 5.45 in (138.43 mm) in overall length, which makes the 5.56 NATO caliber or the 7.62 one used in AK-47s look like a firecracker.

A well trained sniper can hit a 5 in (12 cm) target at a distance of 2 kilometers (1.5 mi) and there are reports of US snipers successfully taking out insurgents in Afghanistan from 2,430 meters (1.8 mi) away.

The bullet can pass through 3 cm (1.2 in) of armor plating, the standard for most light-armored vehicles, and more that a foot-thick wall, behind which most enemies in Iraq and Afghanistan feel pretty safe. It is mostly used against targets like radar cabins, trucks, parked aircraft and so on, but it's also used against human threats, like enemy snipers, mortar crews and machine gun pillboxes.

The rifle itself is 115 or 122 cm (48 or 57 inches) in length, depending on the handle, and although it's a giant, its recoil has been reduced by 70 percent compared to other high-caliber rifles, so it's relatively easy to operate, and weighs only 31 lb (13.6 kg).

But the most impressive characteristic of this monster of a riffle is the fear factor. The bullet - traveling at Mach 1.5 up to Mach 3 - makes it silent and effective, so the target drops dead a few seconds before the actual sound of the shot is heard. And the fact that it can fire all the ten rounds in the magazine in less than 10 seconds means that a small platoon of enemies is dead almost before they can hear the shots.

Tengku Djan Ley, who put Malaysia on the drifting world map, is Malaysia’s first D1GP Drift Champion in 2006. He took on the best drifters in the world at the D1GP World Series @ Irwindale Speedway (Los Angeles) the same year earning himself the nickname Tandem Assassin from his US fans.
Tengku Djan Ley is by day a Vehicles Dynamics Engineer who has taken Race, Rally,Research (R3 - the motorsports arm of Proton) to Malaysian motorsports cult status.Tengku Djan is also a seasoned race driver who is not just adept at drifting, but he is also Twice Consecutive Overall Champion in the 12 hour Merdeka Millenium Endurance Race in 2005 & 2006. An unbeaten record till this day.

The 2008 MME Race Team.

The Team consist of Hammond Lai , Tengku Ezan , Sutan Mustaffa Salihin and Team Manager Tengku Djan Ley with their MME Race car Proton Waja CPS.

In 1995, Team Shell racing team came a-looking for novice drivers, and the then-17-year-old Tengku Djan decided to give it a go. After winning eight out of nine races in his debut year to finish as novice champion, the teen began to get – in his own words now – a little bigheaded. However, instead of racing full time, the decision was made for Tengku Djan to pursue further education instead.

Tengku Djan graduated as an automotive engineer in Germany, and is till this day grateful for the decision. “Being a race car driver these days is not just about driving – It’s important to understand the car and the technical aspects of it as well. Knowing the car and knowing how to drive it, and knowing how to improve it gives you an edge over other drivers.” he said.
He got the chance to further enhance his skills while working as a vehicle dynamics engineer for Lotus in Britain for three-and-a-half years, which was where he honed his driving skills further.
“Even though all the driving I did then was work related and I didn’t do any racing at all, that was where I actually enhanced my driving skills. That was because I was learning to drive for my work, and the skills I got were engineering-based ones.”
It was also during those years in Lotus that Tengku Djan discovered the magic of drifting.
“We once watched a video of Japanese drifters, and decided to try it out at the Lotus track. There was even a rivalry amongst us to try and link up all the corners,” he said.
Djan’s interest in the sport of drifting has grown steadily, spending much of his time training and guiding younger Malaysians into the sport of drift.
Djan is also in-charge of spearheading the strongest drift team in South East Asia. Bridgestone Drift Team Malaysia has since competed in various events in S.E.A finishing in the top ranks in Malaysia, Thailand, and recently, as runner-up in the inaugural Formula DRIFT Singapore in April 2008.

Djan is continuously trying to improve his drift skills. June this year saw Djan compete in Tokyo Drift @ Odaiba, seizing the opportunity to learn from the best. Scoring his personal best of 99.5 from the D.K. Keiichi himself, Djan feels encouraged and looks forward to every chance to hone his own skills, by learning from the world’s best.Djan is excited and feels privileged to have been invited to participate in Formula D and RedBull’s Search for the Ultimate champion in drift. Every resource shall be exhausted to get his ass to Long Beach!

Keep up the best work man...Keep burning the rubber..

How Turbo System Works..

When we talk about TURBO,most of the people perception towards this term is Power..but how many of us really understand how this turbo system works for our vehicle..In today modern world, the automobile technology become more Advance and Hi Tech..Some of the vehicle on the road are already been equipped with turbo system since they roll out from the showroom such as commercial vehicle,4 wheels drive cars and sport performance race cars.

The Turbo system consist of a turbocharger that are a type of forced induction system which work like an air pump, they compress the air flowing into the engine at higher than ambient pressure called boost ( higher pressure=higher boost=higher power ),when more air is squeeze into the cylinder, that's mean more fuel can be added into the cylinder as well, therefore we get more power from each explosion in each cylinder.

1.The turbo turbine is move by the waste exhaust gases which the turbine is connected to a compressor, the air is drawn into the compressor housing by the rotating turbine at the speed of 200,000 RPM via air filter. We might feel a sudden pull in the speed when the turbo system start to work.

-Sequential Turbo System

2.When the air is compressed,it heats up,when air heats up,it expand resulting the air become less denser than the cooler air or in other words warm air has less molecules than the cold air.So to avoid this to happen, the intercooler or charge air cooler(normally fit at the back of the car front bumper) come into play which help to cool down the compress air before it is send into the combustion chamber.

When come across to the selection of the intercooler, there are few things we might take into consideration like the size of the intercooler we need, the bigger intercooler need bigger turbocharger,If we use smaller turbocharger for bigger intercooler, the smaller turbocharger might not have enough strength and may be take more time to compress the air through the bigger space in the intercooler to the intake manifold although the turbocharger RPM already reach it peak. This resulting in Turbo Lag.

Those are just a simple explanation on how the turbo system works..when come to the modification of the turbo system, there are a lots knowledge needed and add on after market accessory to be consider like size of turbo, blow off valve, wastegate, headblock gasket, engine internal parts etc etc..not easy to well keep and maintain the turbo engine..so might need a serious consideration when getting a turbo car..
